Advertising Campaign for Beauty Works Luxury Hair Extensions

Mass Appeal Designs have just completed the new promotional campaign for Beauty Works launch party at The Salon by Pauls Hair World in Liverpool.

The launch party is going to be huge event in Liverpool with plenty of celebrity guests and will be hosted by Liverpool model Amanda Harrington, who was also the main focal point of the advertising campaign, Amanda supplied us with some awesome photographs and she is also scheduled for another photoshoot with Beauty Works for another advertising campaign for Beauty Works range of luxury russian hair extensions

We started by designing some DL sized flyers, the photos of Amanda really brought the flyer design to life, combined with some hot pink and a white background the flyer took shape pretty early and only took a few revisions until Pennie from Beauty Works approved the design

Once the flyer design went off to print, we then began on a large format banner design, using a similar style of design to the flyer to keep the campaign consistent this was also approved and sent to print quite quickly.

New website for Mass Appeal Designs

Well I may be jumping the gun here as the site still needs a few bits & bobs tweeking here & there but its Friday afternoon here and I don;t think I can do anymore work.

We have a Twitter feed incorporated, A flickr feed too, the Blog still neeeds incorporating into the site and we thought we would bore everybody by telling ya'll what is floating our boat when it comes to TV, Music & Films etc, nothing to do with graphic design but I always liked checking out what fellow creatives were into, because as you know we graphic designers all have great taste in pretty much anything except girls.

Anyway my main aim is to keep the site updated every week with new work & project updates. The main thing I am striving to do is to stop updating the damn thing everytime I design a clients website and learn new tricks

New Print Advert for TheDigiBoxShop.com

Just completed a new print advert for TheDigiBoxShop.com that will go into a future edition of the SKY TV magazine

We actually competed with around 42 other companies to design the advert, but thankfully our portfolio of previous advert designs was deemed strong enough to get us the job

Client was a great guy and gave us a fair bit of creative freedom, we thought it was more important to get their services across rather than doing something too crazy.

They specialise in selling & repairing SKY TV equipment such as Sky HD Boxes etc and wanted an advert that wil get this point across quickly

We suggested a clear call to action and suggested some royalty free photos to be included, we actually ended up designing the main headline around the chosen image and kept the main content towards the bottom, we also kept the colours quite miminal too having it mainly black & white to go alongside the full colour photo

Client was delighted with the final advert design and we will be working together again soon

When Clients just magically.... disappear

When starting Mass Appeal Designs we were jumping into an already crowded market of graphic design companies, not to mention new companies & freelancers are popping up everyday with there degrees.

So to increase the chance of getting work we offered (still do) free mock designs so clients could get an idea of how we work before going ahead with us, we offered the chance for clients to pay when they are happy with the designs.

We started off by using outsourcing sites such as guru.com & elance.com, the amount of work we created due to potential clients getting in touch to take advantage of the free mock designs was ridiculous, even more ridiculous were the amount of clients who simply disappeared after carrying out numerous revisions to their work.

Just as they made their seemingly final revisions...... Gone, like tears in the rain....... Though we are now in a position to let our portfolio speak for ourselves it still happens. We have had 1 guy who has used us 3 different times, every time the job is getting to the finish line, he disappears

Not too mention the clients who suddenly realise they are affected by the credit crunch when the job is complete and it comes to payment time.....

New Advertising Campaign for The Big Brush Co Completed

Just finished a print advertising campaign for The Big Brush Co, they already had a design in place which just needed some subtle changes to the layout to make it look more professional & visually effective.

We added some trusty polaroid effects (original I know) that previously had a heavy black drop shadow, we introduced lighter colours so the products stood out more, and also has the images in the polaroids cut off as originally the whole was fitted into the area and it was hard to make out the actual product.

The whole campaign consisted of a 4 page A4 booklet, an A2 Poster Design and a Tent card.

The client had been looking for a suitable graphic designer for a while and they were delighted with our work saying "Thank god we have finally found a bloody good graphic designer"

It was great to work for a client who knew what they were talking about and appreciated the little details that can transform a piece of work from suitable to truly effective.

We should be doing a lot of work in the future for The Big Brush Co and were delighted to have them onboard

To work from home or rent an office

Working from home is great, sit around all day in a dressing gown with Sky Sports News on all day, no office idiot, life of the office type or office character to annoy the blue hell out of me, its hard to complain really, especially thinking back to when I was really bloody miserable working for various publishing companies in Liverpool

Well I think its time to invest in some shared office space, a major issue for me is seperating work from home, or home from work. Its all blended into one. My usual way of breaking it up by going to Tesco at 4.30 every day is not working anymore.

Cabin fever is setting in and the one thing I do miss about working is the feeling of getting home every day and just switching off. I can not watch a film or tv show without checking my emails every 30 minutes then usually ending up working.

Well I checked a few offices out this week and will hopefully make the big decision this week

So hopefully a more professional working environment will improve my work rate, I think Im making 2 days worth of work last 5 days

I am alos hoping there is a beautiful secretary

When you are so busy with client work it can be near impossible to fit time in on our own website, working completely for myself I tend to work all day all night yet still struggle to find the time needed to maintain the Mass Appeal website. I have lots of new work added to the portfolio and a lot more to come.

We have lots of website designs to show off and hopefully they will be available to view within 2 weeks
